German volunteer firefighters honored for decades of service
Volunteer firefighters in different German regions were recently honored for their long-term dedication to emergency services.
In the northern part of a district including municipalities such as Baar-Ebenhausen, Manching, and Vohburg, 37 volunteers were recognized by District Administrator Albert Gürtner and District Fire Inspector Christian Nitschke. The awards celebrated 25, 40, and 50 years of active service, as well as essential behind-the-scenes roles in leadership and treasury functions.
In the Schwalm-Eder district, nine long-serving members of the Homberg (Efze) and Neukirchen volunteer fire departments were also celebrated. District Administrator Winfried Becker presented the Golden Fire Protection Honor Badge to eight individuals for 40 years of service, while Peter Ritter received a special distinction for 50 years of active duty. Officials emphasized that volunteerism is a vital societal asset and called for political support to ensure the continued availability of these essential services.
