Warm, dry spell expected in Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern with occasional thunderstorms

The German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts that Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern will be under high‑pressure influence for the coming days, bringing warm to very warm temperatures and generally dry conditions. Daytime highs are expected to range from the mid‑20s °C to as high as 32 °C, with coastal areas slightly cooler. Northerly winds will be light to moderate.

Isolated thunderstorms may develop in the north‑western part of the state, especially on Monday, with a low probability of strong gusts up to 70 km/h, heavy rain of 15–25 litres per square metre, and occasional small hail. The region remains dry overall, with only 11.7 mm of rain recorded over the past week and no rain forecast for the next three days.

The UFZ drought monitor shows a differentiated soil‑moisture situation: moderate to severe drought in eastern and southern areas, while the west and north display unusual to moderate dryness. The combination of high temperatures, low humidity and limited precipitation raises the risk of forest and field fires, prompting fire authorities to advise vigilance.
