German Fan Freddy's US World Cup Tour Leads to White House Invite and Social Media Exit

German soccer fan @FreddyLA7 (also known as Freddy7a) travelled across the United States during the 2026 World Cup, documenting his experiences on X. His videos of visits to Taco Bell, Waffle House, Buc‑ee’s, NASA, Hilton hotels and a concert quickly amassed more than 750,000 followers.

His upbeat commentary attracted attention from US officials. Vice‑president JD Vance expressed interest in meeting him, and a Trump‑era tourism adviser said a White House visit was being arranged. Freddy also received praise from American media and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Facing a wave of online harassment, with some users digging up past posts to portray him negatively, Freddy deactivated his X account on 30 June 2026. He explained on Instagram that “too many people seem to have a problem with us having a genuinely good time here … it was ruining the fun.” He announced he would continue his road‑trip, heading from Boston to Dallas, and thanked supporters for their messages.

The episode highlights how a single social‑media personality can capture public imagination, draw diplomatic interest, and also become a target of online backlash.
