German youth karate events: Zoe Schulz wins gold, Wilma Berberich takes bronze

The third edition of the Karate Südgames was held in Ulm on 18 April 2026, featuring 650 entries from seven nations. In the U16 Kata category, Zoe Schulz of TSV Bönnigheim (Baden‑Württemberg) defeated her opponent 3 – 2 in the final to claim first place.

A few weeks later, on 9 May 2026, the Baden‑Württemberg state championship for school‑aged karate took place at the Walldürn Nibelungenhalle. Wilma Berberich, competing for Sportkarate Walldürn e.V. in the Girls’ Kumite Student A division, earned the bronze medal after a series of matches against strong opponents.

Both events highlighted the depth of youth talent in German karate, with clubs from the region achieving podium finishes in kata and kumite disciplines.
