German Youth Programs Boost Participation in Music Associations and Church Activities
The Deutsche Bläserjugend is hosting a three‑day seminar (25‑27 September 2026) in Frankfurt on how music clubs can involve young members in decision‑making, covering board participation, project planning and everyday club life. The event, aimed at club leaders and youth representatives, costs €75 for members and €150 for non‑members, with travel subsidies up to €60, and is funded by the federal Children and Youth Plan.
In the Diocese of Essen, an interview with Katarzyna Paczyńska‑Werner and Detlef Schneider‑Stengel highlights how cultural and linguistic diversity—about one‑third of young people in the diocese have migrant backgrounds—can enrich church youth work. Their new book, "Jugendarbeit in der pluralen Gesellschaft," offers practical ideas for inclusive groups, holiday camps and open offers, urging parish and scout organisations to embrace this diversity.
Both initiatives underscore a broader push in Germany to give young people genuine influence in community and cultural institutions.
