German Youth Teams Earn Top Placements in Volleyball and Martial Arts Tournaments

Johannes‑Brahms Gymnasium entered two teams in an indoor beach‑volleyball tournament for 8th‑ and 9th‑grade classes. The squads finished strong, achieving fifth‑ and eighth‑place overall, with the younger team winning six of seven matches, five by a single point. Organisers highlighted the players’ self‑organisation and teamwork, noting that many participants were still in the 7th grade.

In a separate event, 11‑year‑old Karyna Vashechko of SV Blau‑Gelb Darmstadt captured her third gold medal at the Rauschenberg tournament in the U13 female (≤33 kg) division. She had previously won the South‑West German title in the U15 class and defeated the Thüringen runner‑up in the final with a decisive foot technique. The tournament featured about 400 competitors from several German states.
