German‑Backed Women’s Empowerment Initiatives Strengthen Mediation Skills in the Arab Region
In Mukalla, Hadhramaut, Deputy Governor for Women Affairs Abir Al‑Hadrami concluded a three‑day workshop that trained female mediators and community‑committee members in dispute‑resolution techniques. The program was organized by the National Women’s Committee – Hadhramaut Coast in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung’s Yemen office, which highlighted the local authority’s commitment to women’s roles in peacebuilding and community stability.
Separately, Amel Ammar, adviser and head of Egypt’s National Council for Women, participated in the Arab Women Organization’s simulation exercise co‑hosted with the German development agency GIZ. Ammar emphasized the importance of youth investment, dialogue, negotiation and policy‑making for Arab women’s development, referencing Egypt’s 2030 National Strategy for Women’s Empowerment as a regional model.
Both events illustrate growing German‑Arab cooperation aimed at building women’s capacities for mediation, leadership and sustainable development across the region.
