Germany: 14-year-old completes 1,100-km hike as pedagogical measure
A 14-year-old boy named Leo and his educator, John, have completed an 1,100-kilometer journey on foot across Germany. Traveling from northern North Rhine-Westphalia to Saxon Switzerland and back, the trek serves as an intensive pedagogical measure.
Leo, described as a ‘system sprenger’ (someone who challenges or breaks social/educational systems), has been in residential care since age twelve. The journey is designed to provide stability and personal development; his companion noted that Leo, who previously rarely read, has already finished three books during the trip.
