Germany: About One‑Third of 25‑Year‑Olds Still Live with Parents

Data from Germany’s Federal Statistical Office show that in 2025 roughly 30 % of 25‑year‑old men and 23 % of women still lived in their parents’ home, a slight rise from 28 % in the 2022‑2024 period. Among 30‑year‑olds the share fell to 13 % for men and 7 % for women, and among 40‑year‑olds it was 5 % for men and 2 % for women. Most young adults who remain at home are employed; 77 % of those aged 25‑34 work, with 80 % in full‑time jobs, 20 % part‑time and 6 % unemployed.
