Germany adds asset‑statement form to Bürgergeld renewals from July 2026
From 1 July 2026 the Federal Employment Agency will require Jobcenters to collect a new “Anlage VM” – a self‑declaration of assets – with every renewal application for Bürgergeld. The form asks for details on the entire household’s wealth, including real estate, vehicles, savings, securities and any foreign assets. Applicants must submit copies of supporting documents and are advised to gather the information early to avoid delays.
The change accompanies other adjustments: the PDF version of the change‑notice form will no longer be downloadable, with online submission or paper copies obtained directly from the Jobcenter becoming the main options. The reform also reaffirms existing asset thresholds – a €40,000 exemption for first‑year recipients and a €15,000 allowance per household member thereafter – as part of the broader transformation of Bürgergeld into a “Grundsicherung für Arbeitssuchende”.
