Germany AI skill premium lifts entry‑level salaries by up to 20 percent

PwC’s 2026 AI‑employment barometer reports that AI‑proficient employees across Europe earn on average 62 % more than their colleagues, up from 57 % a year earlier. Recruiters face long vacancies for AI specialists – an AI architect takes about 69 days to fill in Germany, second‑longest only to Japan.

Randstad’s “Age of Augmentation” analysis, based on more than 35 million job postings in eleven countries, suggests firms should consider internal training to meet demand rather than waiting for scarce external talent.
