Germany and Austria implement digital tourism initiatives

Tourism sectors in Germany and Austria are implementing new digital strategies to enhance traveler experiences and connectivity.

In Germany, Biankas Reisen has partnered with the Munich-based startup ClubGefühle. This collaboration targets solo travelers aged 45 to 69 by combining personal travel consulting with a digital community platform. The partnership allows travelers to connect with fellow participants before their trip begins, fostering social connections through a digital layer added to existing group and city travel offerings.

In Austria, an EU-funded project focused on cross-border digital cooperation with Bavaria has introduced “Freeda,” a digital travel companion. Designed to support guests before and during their stay, the AI-driven tool provides tailored information and inspiration. The initiative, supported by the University of Passau, aims to increase the online visibility and booking capabilities of approximately 1,000 tourism businesses, ranging from regional associations to small private accommodations.
