Argentina receives submarine financing offers from Germany and France

Germany and France have offered to fully finance the purchase of three submarines for Argentina, an operation estimated to cost over 3,000 million euros (approximately 3,355 million dollars). The announcement was made by Admiral Marcelo Dalle Nogare, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces.

As part of a broader military rearmament plan under President Javier Milei, the Argentine government has authorized the Navy to manage US$ 2,300 million in external credit for the submarines and an additional US$ 1,200 million for the acquisition of two frigates. This initiative also includes the advancement of a project to build an Integrated Naval Base in Ushuaia.

The Argentine Navy is currently evaluating two primary technical options: the Scorpène Evolved model from the French company Naval Group and the Type 209NG model from the German firm ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS). Both proposals include installment payment schemes, with the first delivery expected in approximately six years.
