Germany and Turkey strengthen economic and industrial ties

At a reception in Ankara celebrating the 36th anniversary of German reunification, officials from Germany and Turkey emphasized the deepening economic and technological ties between the two nations.

German Ambassador Sibylle Katharina Sorg highlighted that Germany remains Turkey’s largest trading partner, with trade reaching a record 55 billion euros projected for 2025. She noted that while the two countries do not always agree on every issue, they continue to work together closely on security and political matters.

Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that more than 8,600 German-capital companies are currently operating in Turkey. He described this presence as a sign of investor confidence in Turkey’s dynamic market and skilled workforce. Kacır called for future cooperation to focus more heavily on new technologies and future industries, noting that the economic partnership is a two-way street involving significant investments from Turkish entrepreneurs in Germany as well.
