Germany and UAE issue joint declaration on regional crises

During a visit by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Germany, the two nations issued a joint declaration addressing several major regional and international crises.

Regarding Iran, both countries condemned aggressive attacks against the UAE and other regional nations, specifically targeting civilian infrastructure. They denounced the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz and threats to commercial shipping, calling for Iran to respect the right of transit through international straits. The declaration also emphasized the need to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to contain threats from its missile and drone programs.

On the Palestinian issue, Germany and the UAE reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders. They called for a comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, urging Israel to adhere to its commitments and Hamas to cease military operations. They further rejected any unilateral actions to change the status of occupied Palestinian territories or the legal status of Jerusalem.

In relation to Syria, the two nations stressed the importance of maintaining Syria's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. They called for respect of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, highlighting that inclusive governance is essential for long-term stability and economic recovery.
