Germany: Anti‑AfD campaign and Antifa protest oppose “remigration” proposals

The Evangelical Church in Jülich launched a campaign titled “Face show! Remigration not with us!” urging citizens to post selfies in opposition to the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party’s inclusion of “remigration” as a central policy goal in its January 2025 program. The initiative frames the AfD’s proposal as a threat to Germany’s liberal society and calls for public participation to demonstrate diversity.

In Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, an Antifa coalition organized a small demonstration against the same “remigration” demand. About 50 protestors gathered, displaying anti‑far‑right slogans and flags, while eight police motorcycles, three patrol cars and a public‑transport vehicle were stationed nearby. Participants used chants such as “No Nazis” and carried banners condemning the AfD’s rhetoric. The protest highlighted a longstanding left‑wing opposition to forced displacement of German citizens, a sentiment the demonstrators say predates the AfD.
