Germany appoints Carsten Linnemann as Federal Minister of Health

An analysis by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) indicates that nearly one in three adults in Germany reports experiencing hearing difficulties, with men being more frequently affected than women. Additionally, the RKI has conducted an analysis regarding the use of reusable versus single-use endoscopes, focusing on infection prevention and environmental sustainability.

In political developments, Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced a cabinet reshuffle, appointing Carsten Linnemann as the new Federal Minister of Health. Linnemann stated he would approach the role with “humility and great respect.”

Other medical sector reports include a Forsa survey commissioned by Barmer, which shows that while most Germans see potential benefits in medical artificial intelligence, there remain significant reservations. Meanwhile, medical organizations are debating the impact of remuneration on physician specialization and advocating for better maternity protections for self-employed doctors.
