Germany approves 19 million euros in military exports to Morocco
Germany approved 26 military export operations to Morocco in 2025, totaling 19.27 million euros. According to reports submitted to the Bundestag, more than half of this value (55.2%) is dedicated to surveillance and target detection, localization, and identification technologies. Additionally, approximately 30.9% of the total is linked to components for armored vehicles.
While this amount is relatively small compared to Germany's total defense exports of 13.3 billion euros, it follows a period of increasing diplomatic engagement. On April 30, 2026, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and German official Johann Wadephul met in Rabat for the second session of the Morocco-Germany Multidimensional Strategic Dialogue.
The two parties expressed intentions to strengthen military, armament, and defense cooperation based on mutual respect. Discussions also focused on progress regarding a bilateral security agreement and the establishment of a security dialogue, though officials noted that these statements represent ongoing negotiations rather than a finalized agreement.
