Germany approves child pension savings as Colombia opens new community center
In Germany, Parliament has approved the ‘Frühstartrente’ initiative, a program designed to fund pension savings for children. Under this scheme, the state will contribute 10 euros monthly to individual accounts for children aged 6 to 18. By investing these funds in financial markets, the government aims to build long-term retirement supplements. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil noted that with an average annual return of 7%, state contributions could grow to approximately 53,000 euros by age 65.
In Colombia, a new community dining and educational center is set to open in the Simón Bolívar neighborhood of Pasto on October 29. The project, located in the Comuna 12 district, aims to provide food, educational activities, and recreational support to vulnerable children. The initiative is supported by international cooperation from Catalonia, Spain, and the Corporación 8 de Marzo, which provided over 2,400 items including books, therapeutic materials, and audiovisual resources.
