Germany approves healthcare digitalization law (GeDIG)

The German federal cabinet has approved the Act for Data and Digital Innovation in Healthcare (GeDIG), a move intended to advance the digitalization of the country's healthcare system. The Association of German Dental Technician Guilds (VDZI) has welcomed the decision, particularly regarding the strengthening of secure electronic communication within the Telematics Infrastructure (TI).

A key component of the legislation is the establishment of KIM (Communication in Medicine) as the standard for secure digital data exchange among all service providers connected to the TI. This shift is expected to increase the importance of digital connectivity for dental laboratories, as they must integrate with the existing network used by dental practices to ensure seamless medical and administrative communication.
