Heino settles legal dispute with AfD over unauthorized election ads

The singer Heino has reached a legal settlement with the AfD Uckermark following a dispute over unauthorized election advertising. The case was mediated by the Landesgericht Innsbruck.

The conflict arose after AfD politician Felix Teichner posted on social media during the Uckermark district administrator election in April, claiming, “Am Sonntag würde Heino Felix wählen” (On Sunday, Heino would vote for Felix). Heino, who resides in Kitzbühel, Austria, filed a lawsuit for non-material damages totaling 30,000 euros, asserting he never made such a statement.

Under the terms of the settlement, the AfD Uckermark will pay a four-digit sum, reported by some sources to be 7,500 euros. Teichner has also issued an apology. Heino’s manager, Helmut Werner, stated that the settlement serves as an important signal against the unauthorized use of a person's name or image for political purposes.
