The German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), the Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to Persons with Disabilities, and the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) have issued a joint call for participation in the upcoming elections for Severely Disabled Persons' Representatives (SBV). The elections are scheduled to take place nationwide from October 1 to November 30, 2026.

Leonie Gebers, State Secretary at BMAS, emphasized that strong local representation is essential for ensuring fair opportunities and helping employees exercise their rights in the workplace. Jürgen Dusel, the Federal Government Commissioner, noted that these representatives play a vital role in advising employers, particularly during digital transformations and the implementation of mobile work, to ensure the potential of employees with disabilities is fully utilized.
