Germany celebrates autumn apple harvest with regional festivals

Various regions in Germany are celebrating the autumn apple harvest through community events and traditional orchard preservation efforts.

In the Wolfenbüttel district, a communal apple collection event is scheduled for October 9, starting at 3:00 PM in Klein Denkte. Volunteers are being sought to help harvest apples from approximately 1,900 trees located on district roads and meadows. The collected fruit will be processed into juice by the newly founded 'Wolfenbütteler SaftGenossen eG', supporting regional value creation and the maintenance of traditional orchards. Participants receive discounted juice from the harvest, and a celebratory event will follow the collection.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, several farms and organizations are hosting harvest festivities. In Dortmund, the Mertin family farm is hosting an apple festival featuring fruit picking, a corn maze, and local food vendors. Additionally, BUND Olfen is organizing a traditional festival at the Benthof orchards, focusing on educating visitors about different apple varieties suitable for home gardens.
