Germany conducts major police raids in Dresden, Leipzig, and Frankfurt

Authorities in Germany have conducted several major police operations across different regions targeting various criminal activities.

In Dresden and the surrounding districts of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge and Meißen, a large-scale operation involving 130 police officers targeted 26 locations, resulting in the seizure of a significant amount of digital evidence. Similar large-scale searches occurred in Fulda and Künzell, as well as a major operation on Eisenbahnstraße in Leipzig.

In the Frankfurt and Rhine-Main area, a separate investigation into illegal gambling led to raids on eleven properties. This operation, involving over one hundred officials, targeted suspected tax evasion related to unauthorized betting platforms. Investigators estimate the fiscal damage for 2024 alone at approximately 77.6 million euros, with assets worth about 82 million euros subject to seizure. The investigation revealed that the platforms under scrutiny may have processed approximately 5.86 billion euros in bets between July 2021 and late 2023.
