Germany conducts search after drone wreckage found near military base

German police have launched an extensive search operation in Lower Saxony following the discovery of unidentified drone wreckage. The fragments were found in an uninhabited area east of Lake Steinhuder Meer near Hanover.

The crash site is located approximately one kilometer from the Bundeswehr military airbase in Wunstorf. While the debris was found outside the base perimeter, authorities are conducting a large-scale investigation to identify the owner or operator of the aircraft and to determine the circumstances of the crash.

The Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA) stated that there is currently no immediate danger to the public. Investigators aim to recover more fragments to perform a technical analysis and rule out potential threats. The search has been ongoing since Monday, September 14.
