Germany consumers cautioned on AC sizing and DKB banking phishing

During the recent heatwave, consumers are warned to choose air‑conditioners with the proper BTU rating for their room size and usage conditions. A guide outlines recommended BTU ranges (e.g., 5,000 BTU for up to 15 m², 12,000 BTU for 25–35 m²) and advises accounting for factors such as large windows, occupants, electronics and poor insulation, recommending a 15‑30 % capacity increase in poorly insulated spaces.

Separately, banks advise customers that a phishing email impersonating DKB is circulating, claiming the DKB app registration will expire on 15 July 2026 and urging users to reactivate their online banking. Recipients are urged not to click links, to mark the message as spam, and to contact DKB support if personal data has been disclosed. The message typically contains a generic greeting, urgent deadline and threats of account restriction.
