Germany e-prescription services disrupted by technical outage

A nationwide technical disruption in Germany hindered the ability of pharmacies to process electronic prescriptions. The outage, caused by issues with D-Trust institution cards, impacted several critical digital health services, including electronic patient records (ePA) and electronic certificates of incapacity for work (eAU).

According to gematik, the disruption affected SMC-B cards and electronic professional identity cards used by medical practices and pharmacies. While the systems were reported to be operational again as of Tuesday morning at 7:40 a.m., the situation remains under close observation.
