Germany economy grows 0.3% in Q2 driven by strong exports

Germany's economy grew by 0.3% in the second quarter of 2026, surpassing the initial estimate of 0.2%. This upward revision indicates that Europe's largest economy is moving away from stagnation, marking the third consecutive quarter of growth.

Strong net exports, which increased by 0.2%, served as the primary driver for this expansion, suggesting that recovery is currently more dependent on international demand than domestic dynamics. While private consumption rose by 2.9% on an annual basis, capital investments unexpectedly declined by 0.2%.

Despite the positive momentum, challenges remain. Employment decreased by 0.5%, reflecting ongoing structural adjustments within the German industrial sector, including the transition to green industry and the restructuring of the automotive sector. On an annual basis, the GDP increased by 1%.
