Germany emerges as top EU buyer of Honduran exports
Germany has established itself as the primary buyer of Honduran products within the European Union. According to data shared by the German-Honduran Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Honduras), exports to Germany have reached approximately $300 million, driven largely by the coffee sector, which accounts for roughly 1.2 million quintals of grain.
During the Expo Alemania 2026 in Tegucigalpa, officials highlighted that Germany serves as a strategic gateway for Honduran companies to access the broader European market. Beyond coffee, there are growing exports of cocoa, chocolate, palm oil, tobacco, and cigars.
German Ambassador Daniela Vogl noted that cooperation between the two nations extends beyond commerce to include educational scholarships, environmental initiatives, and cultural exchange. Business leaders emphasized the need for both public and private sectors to work together to diversify and strengthen the export offer to meet the high quality standards of the German market.
