Germany expands electric vehicle charging infrastructure

A new public electric‑vehicle charging station was opened in Mönchsroth, Germany. Operated by N‑ERGIE and inaugurated by Mayor Franziska Mattmann, the site at the local swimming pool provides two AC chargers delivering up to 22 kW each and draws electricity from regional renewable sources. The station joins the LadeVerbundPlus network, which now comprises more than 4,400 charging points accessible via a single app and offers reduced tariffs for registered users.

At the Power2Drive Europe 2026 trade fair in Düsseldorf, Schneider Electric unveiled a suite of new e‑mobility products. Highlights include the StarCharge Fast 720 overhead charger capable of 720 kW, a megawatt‑scale charging system delivering over 1 MW for heavy‑duty trucks and buses, a bidirectional V2G wallbox with 11 kW output, and a 22 kW AC wallbox equipped with certified metering for German markets. CEO Anthony Song said the portfolio enables scalable, secure and sustainable charging infrastructure for fleets and buildings, supporting broader decarbonisation goals.
