Germany expands energy infrastructure through new grid contracts and substations
Germany is seeing significant developments in energy infrastructure through new grid agreements and facility openings. In Sandhausen, the municipality and Netze BW GmbH have signed a new electricity concession contract that extends their partnership until 2040. The agreement allows Netze BW to utilize public roads and spaces for the construction and development of the power grid, while Sandhausen will receive an annual concession fee based on the amount of electricity delivered.
In the Rhein-Main region, the grid operator Amprion has symbolically commissioned the Farbwerke Höchst (FWH) Süd network node in Schwanheim. This new gas-insulated (GIS) 380-kilovolt substation is designed to be more space-efficient than open-air facilities. The project aims to strengthen the regional power supply and support the energy transition by facilitating the transport of electricity from renewable sources to major consumption centers.
