Germany Expands Public EV Charging Networks in Wiesbaden and Erlensee

Wiesbaden's municipal energy firm ESWE Versorgung has dramatically increased the city's public electric‑vehicle charging capacity. Since signing a concession in 2023, the company quadrupled the number of charging points, now operating more than 1,250 public chargers in the city and over 2,200 across the region. It has invested more than five million euros, begun construction of a new sub‑station, and aims to add 800 new charging points by 2030, with 610 expected by 2028.

Meanwhile, at the 24‑Autohof Neuberg near Erlensee, the operator 24‑RE Real Estate GmbH opened what it calls Germany's largest high‑power charging hub. The site features 44 high‑power chargers from six providers, including EnBW, Mercedes‑Benz, IONITY, Electra, Tesla and Allego, and is designed to serve both passenger vehicles and heavy‑duty electric trucks. The facility officially opened on 30 July and plans further expansion of commercial spaces and additional charging capacity.
