Germany expands startup ecosystems through coliving and regional innovation initiatives

Germany is seeing diverse developments in its regional startup ecosystems. In Munich, Werk1 is operating as a digital entrepreneurship center that integrates offices, an incubator, coworking spaces, and a coliving concept. The coliving model provides furnished apartments for up to six months, aiming to assist international employees and partners in navigating Munich’s competitive housing market by embedding them directly into a professional networking community.

Meanwhile, in Brandenburg, the Reaktor Wildau is launching the FUSION initiative. Rather than attempting to replicate the high-concentration startup model of nearby Berlin, the initiative seeks to systematically connect existing regional strengths. FUSION aims to bridge the gap between research institutions, entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and capital to foster concrete collaborations and industrial applications.
