Germany focuses on building cooling solutions as heat records surge

The German Federal Association for Surface Heating and Cooling (BVF) will host a two‑day expert round table on October 7‑8 2026 in Gensingen. The event will address the role of modern floor‑integrated heating and cooling systems in improving energy‑efficient building climate control, discuss the planned consolidation of several DIN standards (EN 1264, EN 14037, EN 14240, EN ISO 11855) and present BVF’s latest guidelines and research tools.

At the same time, ventilation specialist Zehnder announced the availability of its ComfoClime Cool unit, an add‑on for the ComfoAir Q system that provides active air‑to‑air heat‑pump cooling and de‑humidification. The product is offered with a 20 % price discount through the end of 2026. The push for such solutions follows the record‑breaking summer of 2024, identified by Copernicus as the warmest in European history, and a June heat record of 41.8 °C in Drewitz, Saxony‑Anhalt, which heightened concerns about health impacts and building comfort.
