Germany focuses on elderly care and work-life balance for caregivers
Various initiatives in Germany are addressing the challenges of elderly care and the integration of caregiving with professional life. In the Stade district, the “Pflegeleicht” lecture series, organized by the Senior and Care Support Point in cooperation with the adult education centers (VHS) of Stade and Buxtehude, will offer free sessions throughout September. Topics include navigating transitions between home and residential care, managing dementia, improving communication with dementia patients, and safe mobility using walkers.
In the Cloppenburg district, a specialized conference titled “Care in Transition: Reconciling Care and Work as a Regional Location Factor” was held to discuss how working professionals can better balance employment with the care of relatives. Organized by the University of Vechta, the 4N research network, and the Cloppenburg district, the event brought together experts from science, politics, and business. Participants emphasized that supporting family caregivers is a critical factor for regional economic stability and the securing of skilled labor.
