Germany gaming market reaches 9.4 billion euros in revenue

The German gaming market reached a total revenue of 9.4 billion euros in 2025, making it the strongest gaming market in Europe, according to the Association of the Bavarian Economy (vbw).

In Bavaria, the industry has seen significant growth, with the number of gaming companies doubling since 2018. The regional sector generates approximately 347 million euros in revenue, positioning Bavaria as a leading gaming hub in Germany, ahead of Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia. To support this growth, the Bavarian state government has increased total funding for games and Extended Reality (XR) to over six million euros. On a national level, the German federal government is expected to increase annual gaming funding to approximately 125 million euros in 2026.

Separately, data from Bitkom indicates that German gamers spent an average of 334 euros on computer and video games last year. The survey revealed that spending habits vary significantly by age, with the 16-to-29 age group spending an average of 376 euros, while those aged 65 and older averaged 168 euros.
