Germany: High fines for ignoring police vehicle stickers
In Germany, vehicle owners face significant financial penalties if they ignore the “Red Dot” sticker placed by police on non-roadworthy or unregistered vehicles parked on public property. This sticker serves as a notice to remove the vehicle within a specified timeframe.
Failure to comply can lead to the vehicle being towed, impounded, or even auctioned and scrapped. The owner is responsible for all associated costs, including processing fees, towing charges, and storage fees. In cases where an auction does not cover the total expenses, the vehicle owner may be held liable for the remaining balance, which can reach up to 100,000 euros.
