Germany holds various Holocaust remembrance ceremonies

Various commemorative events were held across Germany to honor victims of National Socialism and mark historical anniversaries of Jewish persecution.

In Dülmen, over 100 participants gathered at a former Jewish cemetery to observe the anniversary of the November Pogroms (Kristallnacht). Local students from the Hermann-Leeser-Schule read accounts from survivors who were children during the 1938 violence. Mayor Carsten Hövekamp addressed the crowd, emphasizing the necessity of standing for humanity, tolerance, and peace.

At the Levetzowstraße Synagogue Memorial, a gathering was held to commemorate the events of October 1, 1941, when the Gestapo ordered the establishment of a collection camp in the synagogue. The event included discussions regarding a school project involving the Federal President’s Office and the unveiling of a memorial plaque scheduled for October 2026.
