Germany hosts autumn light festivals in Berlin, Essen, and Oberwesel

Germany is hosting several major light festivals this autumn, featuring international artists and large-scale installations.

In Berlin, the 22nd Festival of Lights will run from October 9 to 18, 2026, under the theme ‘Colours of Love’. The event will transform landmarks and facades into open-air galleries. A key highlight at Potsdamer Platz will be a 3D video mapping show on the Kollhoff-Tower, utilizing its unique architecture for light projections. Other nearby hotspots include the Forum Tower and The Ritz-Carlton.

Other notable events include the light festival in Essen from October 2 to 11, which features neon installations and video mapping throughout the city center. Additionally, the ‘Rheinleuchten’ event in Oberwesel will take place from October 8 to 11, showcasing immersive light art and musical performances across churches and historic sites in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
