Germany hosts Cologne Jazzweek and Bad Elster royal Pentecost festivals in 2026

The Cologne Jazzweek will take place from 5 to 11 September 2026, presenting a program that blends local and European jazz scenes. Featured artists include US multi‑instrumentalist Sam Gendel, who will perform solo, in a duo with Sam Amidon and in a trio with Ethan Braun and Ugnė Uma, and Russian pianist Olga Reznichenko, who will appear with ensembles CRUTCHES and Parhuber. Additional acts such as guitarist Teis Semey, the Pereseli collective, and a range of experimental instrumental groups will round out the lineup.

From 21 to 25 May 2026, Bad Elster will host a royal Pentecost celebration centred on the 21st EQUIPAGE BAD ELSTER – ASCH (CZ). The event features more than 25 historic horse‑drawn carriages from Saxony, Bavaria and Thuringia, a city‑wide parade, a ride to the historic castle in Kopaniny, and family‑friendly activities including an obstacle‑driving competition, the 10th Bad‑Elster Derby, and a traditional carriage theatre. Musical performances will be staged at the König Albert Theater, with appearances by alpine musician Herbert Pixner, schlager star NIK P, and comedian Matze Knop.
