Germany hosts conferences on homelessness and mental health care

Specialized conferences in Germany are addressing the intersection of mental illness and homelessness to improve support networks and care gaps.

In Koblenz, the Social Services Office held a symposium on case management in homelessness assistance to mark the national Day of the Homeless. The event focused on the increasing complexity of cases and the necessity of cross-agency cooperation. Discussions included insights from individuals with lived experience and academic perspectives on innovative support strategies.

A separate upcoming symposium in Nuremberg, organized by the Förderverein Ambulante Krisenhilfe e. V., will focus on identifying gaps in care for those facing both mental illness and homelessness. Experts from academia and clinical practice, including representatives from TH Nürnberg and Klinikum Nürnberg, will discuss structural challenges and how to better network various assistance systems to prevent the exclusion of vulnerable individuals.
