Germany hosts European Mobility Week events in Westfalen-Lippe and Hameln-Pyrmont

Various municipalities in Germany are participating in the European Mobility Week (EMW) from September 16 to 22, 2026. The initiative, organized by the European Commission, aims to promote climate-friendly alternatives to car travel and showcase innovative mobility concepts.

In the Westfalen-Lippe region, activities include conferences on transport transition, bicycle tours, and demonstrations. In the Münsterland area, free single tickets for buses and trains are being offered via the BuBiM app using a specific voucher code. The city of Rheine is also hosting events such as bicycle maintenance checks and critical mass rides.

In the Hameln-Pyrmont district, the program follows the theme ‘Mobility across Generations.’ Events include the opening ceremony in Hameln, bicycle tours, lectures, and a district festival. To encourage public transit use, the Öffis Nahverkehr Hameln-Pyrmont GmbH is offering free bus rides during the EMW weekend on September 19 and 20.
