Germany implements new strategies to combat school bullying
German authorities and community organizations are implementing new strategies to combat bullying in schools. In Schleswig-Holstein, the state is restructuring its approach by establishing decentralized intervention teams. These teams are designed to provide rapid, on-site support for acute cases, aiming to bridge the gap between immediate crisis management and long-term prevention. The reform seeks to integrate school psychology, youth welfare, and school social work more closely while improving teacher training.
In Solingen, a specialized conference titled ‘Recognize bullying. Strengthen resilience. Promote democracy’ is being held to address the issue from a societal perspective. Organized by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Starke Kinder and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the event focuses on early detection, emotional resilience, and teaching children constructive conflict resolution. The initiative emphasizes that respectful social interaction is a fundamental component of democratic behavior and involves parents, schools, and local administration.
