Simultaneously, the healthcare sector is facing legal challenges. Seventy-nine statutory health insurance funds have filed lawsuits against the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the Federal Office for Social Security. The funds argue that federal payments are insufficient to cover the healthcare costs of citizens receiving basic income, and they seek to prevent these costs from being covered by the contributions of other insured members and employers.

In the pension sector, the pension value rose to 42.52 euros on July 1, 2026, representing a 4.24 percent increase. Meanwhile, the government is considering long-term reforms, including proposals to link the retirement age to life expectancy starting in 2032.
