Germany industrial orders rise 2.5% in July
German industrial orders rose by 2.5% in July, significantly exceeding market expectations of a 0.3% expansion. This growth marks the third consecutive month of increases for the indicator.
The surge was primarily driven by large contracts in the shipbuilding, railway rolling stock, and aircraft manufacturing sectors, which saw a 126.4% increase. However, orders for the automotive industry declined by 12.5%. While domestic demand grew by 9.1%, external orders fell by 2.1%, largely due to a 10.1% drop in orders from non-eurozone countries.
When excluding large-scale contracts, total orders actually fell by 1.4% for the month. On a quarterly basis, manufacturing demand increased by 2.9% for the May-July period.
