Germany investigates 11 million euro health insurance fraud

German authorities have launched a large-scale investigation into an alleged 11 million euro health insurance fraud scheme. Coordinated by the Wuppertal Prosecutor's Office, the operation involved searches at 31 homes and businesses across the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse.

The investigation focuses on a company providing home care services for intensive care patients. Prosecutors suspect that services were either provided by unqualified personnel or that fraudulent invoices were submitted to health insurance providers for services that were never rendered or did not meet required standards. A total of 13 suspects are under investigation, including a 39-year-old Turkish national, Zeynep C., and her 44-year-old husband, both of whom have been detained.

Authorities have seized assets totaling 5.9 million euros, including luxury vehicles such as Maybach, Mercedes-AMG, and Lamborghini models. Other confiscated items include approximately 51,000 euros in cash, 10,000 euros in gold, 265,000 euros in jewelry, 16,000 euros in luxury bags, and 140,000 euros in watches. Additionally, a 3.3 million euro security mortgage was placed on real estate. During searches in Mettmann, police also discovered firearms, ammunition, cannabis, and anabolic steroids.
