Aldi and Lidl issue food recalls in Germany and France

Major retailers in Germany and France have issued food recalls due to contamination risks.

In Germany, Aldi Nord is recalling ‘Meine Metzgerei’ brand cornflake-breaded turkey schnitzels (800g packs, batch 062640, expiry 28 September 2029) because sharp plastic fragments may have entered the product during production. Consuming these could cause physical injury. Additionally, Lidl has issued a nationwide recall for ‘Metzgerfrisch’ brand coarse sausages (400g and 1600g packs) due to the potential presence of red plastic foreign bodies that could cause mouth, throat, or internal injuries.

In France, Lidl stores in the Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions are recalling ‘L'Étal du Boucher’ 300g beef mince packs sold between 24 August and 1 September 2026. The products are contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), which can cause severe symptoms including bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting, with a risk of serious kidney complications in children.
