Germany launches initiatives to combat youth cyberbullying

Efforts to combat cyberbullying among children and adolescents are gaining momentum in Germany through new educational initiatives and public awareness campaigns.

The LKA Niedersachsen is launching a new digital information series titled ‘Der Onlineabend’. The first session, scheduled for September 29, 2026, will focus on cyberbullying. This quarterly event aims to provide parents, teachers, and educators with tools to recognize digital harassment, understand its psychological impacts, and find appropriate support for victims. The series is organized by an expert group dedicated to prevention and deradicalization in digital spaces.

In Hamburg, the organization Cybermobbing-Hilfe e. V. marked Safer Internet Day with an event at the NRV Clubhaus. Supported by digital education experts and social media creators, the event sought to sensitize young people to the dangers of the digital realm. The organization also announced the opening of a new location in Hamburg to expand its reach in fighting digital violence.
