Germany launches nationwide nutritional monitoring study

The Max Rubner-Institut, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, is launching a nationwide nutritional study known as the National Nutrition Monitoring (nemo). The study aims to determine what people in Germany eat and how well they are supplied with essential nutrients.

Between September 28 and October 18, randomly selected citizens aged 18 to 80 will be invited via mail to participate. The research will involve more than 3,000 adults across 120 locations, including Castrop-Rauxel. Oracle Life Sciences Research Services will conduct the survey, with Infratrend Forschung GmbH staff performing interviews and physical examinations, primarily at the participants' homes.

Participants will receive their laboratory results, an assessment, and a 55 euro compensation for their time. This initiative serves as a foundation for future scientific and political decisions, marking the first comparable nationwide survey in approximately 20 years.
