Vietnam and Germany seek to deepen strategic partnership and trade
Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a telephone conversation to strengthen the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership. The leaders discussed enhancing political trust and deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
On the economic front, both parties aim to increase bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD. Vietnam encouraged German investment in high-tech industries, including mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing, healthcare, energy transition, and strategic transport infrastructure.
Additionally, the leaders discussed connecting financial and stock markets and encouraged international investors to participate in Vietnam’s International Financial Center. The completion of Germany’s ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) was noted as a significant step for bilateral investment.
